| Do I need planing permission for a garden building ? |
|
You
can usually put a summerhouse or shed up in your garden without planning
permission as they are classed as a temporary structure. Where your permitted
development rights have been removed you will need to apply. Ask your
local planning department if you have any doubt.
|
| What sort of wood do you use ? |
|
We
only use high quality Western Red cedar or North European Red Deal in
the manufacture of our buildings. Using the better quality of timber means
that our customer's investments do not suffer from shrinkage in the cladding,
splitting along the grain or cupping and twisting which occurs very often
in the varieties that are seen at the economy end of the market or from
unscrupulous suppliers.
|
| What sort of preparation do I need for my garden building ? |
|
Our
first Class installers will efficiently erect your building onto a prepared
base, i.e. A level solid flat surface of the correct size.
Putting the building onto the soil will not do! the floor will be quickly infested by all manner of bugs and funghi wheras a good solid concrete or paving slab area will ensure your doors and windows will fit and that the framework of the building will last for many years to come. We have customers with summerhouses over 20 years old! |
| What about painting my shed ? |
|
All
our buildings are dip-treated in a quality spirit preservative so you
do not need to treat it for a couple of years. If you want to change the
look then use a good spirit-based preserver like Cuprinol or Sadolin.
